Do you like yourself? For the most part. I wish I could control what I said more than I do.

What, if anything, would you like to change about your life? I wished my family didn’t have to die.

How would you describe yourself? Strong, determined, and kind

Fears: Not being a good enough mother for Eleanor or the twins.

Talents: People say I’m good with kids

Interests: I enjoy baking-especially pies.

When are you happy? When my kids are behaving and I get some time alone with Cade.

What makes you sad? When Cade won’t tell me what he is thinking. He often keeps his feelings and thoughts to himself.

What makes you laugh? When the twins doing something funny, like fall in the mud trying to catch frogs.

Novel PASTimes: Tell me why you’re in the situation you are in.

Logan: I find an abandoned baby near my ranch and decide to keep her. I’m going to name her Alice after my dead wife.

Novel PASTimes: What are looking for?

Logan: I need to find a woman who is lactating and can feed baby Alice.

Novel PASTimes: What is this other person using you for?

Logan: Missie has lost her memory and in exchange for a roof over her head and food she will breast feed Alice.

Novel PASTimes: How do you feel about that?

Logan: I don’t like the idea of having a woman like Missie, who doesn’t even know who she is, or where she comes from, living in my house, but I’m desperate. She has the milk that I need for Alice.

Novel PASTimes: Assuming you and Missie work out your differences, what’s gonna keep you from living happily ever after?

Logan: Missie has too many secrets.

Novel PASTimes: What’s the worst thing [other character] could do to you?

Logan: Take Alice from me.

Novel Why would that be so bad?

Novel PASTimes: What’s the worst thing you could do to Missie?

Logan: Banish Missie from my house and have her sent back to jail.

Logan: Because if Missie gets her memory back, I think she will refuse to tell me the dark secret she is carrying around.

Novel PASTimes: Why on earth do you want a relationship with this person?

Logan: I don’t. But Alice needs a woman’s care. As an unmarried man it wouldn’t be right to have a woman living under my roof who isn’t a close blood relative. I’m going to ask her to marry me.

Emmett: I admire the man who trained me. He was a veteran Texas Ranger and taught me everything I know.

Novel PASTimes: What’s your purpose in life?

Emmett: I believe in justice and protecting the innocent. Although they don’t always happen at the same time.

Novel PASTimes: Do you like yourself?

Emmett: I don’t know. I’ve never really thought about it. I suppose I am content with who I am and the decisions I make.

Novel PASTimes: How are you viewed by others?

Emmett: I assume strong, loyal, and dedicated to my job. I take being a Ranger very seriously.

Emmett: When I track down a bandit and make them pay for breaking the law.

Emmett: Injustice

Novel PASTimes: What impression do you make on people when they first meet you?

Willa: I think they like me. I hope they do. I try to be friendly, even though I’m naturally shy.

Harrison: I tend to focus on accomplishing tasks, and forget to think about anything else. I don’t mean to, but it can cause me to come across serious and to-the-point.

Willa: I wasn’t sure what to make of him when I first met him, but once I got to know him, I realized he was a good person.

Novel PASTimes: What’s your idea of a good marriage?

Willa: A partnership between to people who love each other.

Harrison: I agree with Willa. It’s all about being with someone you can trust.

Novel PASTimes: What are you most proud of about your life?

Willa: Helping my family. They were in need, and I found a way to help them.

Harrison: Making Willa happy. Helping her help her family and giving her anything she wants has made me more happy than all nine of my brick yards.

Novel PASTimes: What’s the worst thing that’s happened in your life? What did you learn from it?

Willa: The death of my mother and brother. I learned those you love can be gone with a blink of an eye, so you should love them as best you can while you can.

Harrison: I learned the same lesson from the death of my parents. Though I wasn’t as close to them as I would have liked, I never got a chance to rectify that. Now that they are gone, I never will.

Novel PASTimes: What would you like it to say on your tombstone?

Willa: She loved her family well.

Harrison: He was an honorable man who did right by all he knew.
